Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter to get spring makeover in time for Easter

Altrincham’s popular Stamford Quarter is getting a spring makeover in time for Easter.

The area’s ‘Not So Secret Garden’ first popped up during the pandemic to provide an outdoor destination for locals and visitors to enjoy food, drinks, live music and other events. Now the little corner of Altrincham town centre is set to be transformed for Easter, with a full Spring-themed makeover.

The changes are set to include a wall of knitted flowers, larger than life butterflies and animal installations. The ‘Not So Secret Garden’ was first launched in June 2021 by Bruntwood Works in their partnership with Trafford council to revamp Altrincham town centre.

Between April 12 and 14 activities available on site will include ‘The Hare and the Easter Eggs’ – a free treasure trail around the town, starting at the Not So Secret Garden. From April 15 (Good Friday) to Saturday April 16, between 11am-11pm, there will be a two-day family festival including free Easter-themed workshops such as Inch Art’s flower art canvas and hedgehog house building, as well as masterclasses from the Cheshire Beekeeper’s Association and Eco Warriors.

There are also sessions from Just Relax to encourage mindfulness and self-care. Children will get the chance to pot their own plants to take away whilst focusing on living a healthy, happy life. Street food traders, street performers and live music will all be returning to the space with the usual comfy seating and a place to relax and absorb the atmosphere.

Resident bar Stutter and Twitch will be serving up hot dogs from their new cart alongside local plant-based trader, Panc Foods. The ‘Not So Secret: Wildlife Garden’ will be opening its doors on April 15, open from 11am to 11pm.

The site is set to feature a rolling programme of events for throughout the year, with plans already underway for a ‘Garden party’ themed around the Jubilee celebrations in June.
