Alt-pop artist Gia Ford curates your Friday night playlist

Sheffield-born singer-songwriter Gia Ford has been turning heads in the music industry since releasing her debut single five years ago. In 2024, her devout fanbase is about to swell even further with a debut album on the horizon (although exactly when is TBC). ‘It feels like it’s going to be a busy year,’ she says, ahead of the release of her new single Poolside and upcoming London headline gig at The Lower Third on January 24th.

Her new music will tell the stories of others –  ‘each [song] is a character study’ – finding inspiration in those around her, rather than looking to her own experience. ‘I feel like my previous work was, not a false start because that’s too harsh, but I feel like I jumped the gun a little bit stylistically and even lyrically,’ she says, of her sound’s evolution. ‘I didn’t honour myself enough with it. And I feel like this is truly what I want to sound like. It honours my old inspirations from being a kid and the music my family used to listen to, it feels like the music I wish I’d started with. It’s my most genuine music.’
