Almost 6,000 Falkirk youngsters benefit from free bus travel since January

Almost 6,000 young people in Falkirk have benefited from free bus travel across Scotland since it was introduced in January.

Exactly 5,734 5-21 years olds in the district have so far taken up the offer.

More than 300,000 young people across the country have enjoyed over eight million journeys.

Scottish Green MSP for Central Scotland, Gillian Mackay, said: "Thanks to the introduction of free bus travel for under 22s, delivered with Greens in government, over 300,000 young people across Scotland, including 5,734 in Falkirk, are now enjoying free, low carbon travel.

"Across Scotland more than eight million journeys have now been made using the scheme, with more young people accessing it every day.

"I’d encourage anyone under the age of 22 who hasn’t yet signed up to visit freebus.scot for information on how to apply."
