Almac Women's 10k off to a great start as Tyrone woman explains why she's signed

Plans for the 1st Almac Belfast City Women’s 10k are well underway with over 500 participants already registered to walk, jog or run in the event on Sunday 18th June.

This 10k is exclusive for females aged 15 years+ and we would like to introduce Laura Montgomery, Marketing Director at Almac Group who has signed up.

Laura, from Beragh in Co. Tyrone and is looking forward to walking the event with her mother Janet Gregg. Laura’s father was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago, but is recovering well and is competing in the event to support official charity, Cancer Focus.

2023 is a special year for Laura as five days before the event, she will turn 40, with Janet celebrating her 70th birthday later in the year – so the ladies are looking forward to celebrating in Belfast and making a weekend out of it pre and post-event.

Laura is encouraging everyone to get involved;

“Just give it a try – don’t be put off signing up if you’re not a runner. I really don’t enjoy running but walking it means just as much!”
