Ally McCoist reckons Ange Postecoglou would be walking into a disaster zone at Tottenham - as Chris Sutton reckons the Celtic boss missed a chance to kill the rumours.
The Rangers legend has been keeping tabs on the next Spurs manager situation, as the Australian becomes their preferred candidate. There is a Treble and a fifth domestic trophy from six to be claimed in the Scottish Cup final against Inverness on Saturday, and McCoist can see why the 57-year-old would perhaps STAY at Celtic.
Tottenham finished eighth in the Premier League this season and Harry Kane's future is up in the air, leading to an uneasy situation to start with, even with state of the art training equipment and stadium. McCoist told BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra: "He'd clearly be going to a better league, we can't argue about that. I don't think we can argue about that but it is a gamble, he's going to a club that is a little bit of a basket case at this moment in time where some seriously good coaches haven't succeeded.
"They could potentially lose their key asset, Harry Kane, of course the facilities are good. So I can understand the attraction of him going but I can also understand the desire to stay."
Sutton responded to his co-pundit's assessment with a more blunt view. The former striker reckons Postecoglou not shutting down the rumours in the final build-up has got fans thinking one thing.
The Celtic hero added: "Let's get it right. This week, Ange Postecoglou could have put this story to bed.
"He could have said he is staying at Celtic. The fact he hasn't, most Celtic fans are thinking after the cup final most probably something will happen.
"But this is a guy who is ambitious and will want to manage in the Premier League. It's not like when Brendan Rodgers left under a cloud, I think most fans would wish Ange well."
