ALLY MCCOIST has reacted to a raging Rangers fan calling for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's head.
The Ibrox club were thumped by arch city rivals Celtic on Saturday.
The first derby clash of the season finished 4-0 to Ange Postecoglou's side at Parkhead.
It was certainly an eye-opener for everyone within Scottish football, as the Hoops extended their advantage at the top of the table to five-points.
van Bronckhorst and his players have come under fire from fans and pundits for lacking the required desire and willingness to battle in the game.
One Rangers fan called into talkSPORT to have a go at the Dutch boss, branding him a "mouse".
The supporter, called Archie, also suggested that van Bronckhorst should be sacked.
He said: "For me, it's down to the manager. The manager has to go.
"I don't rate him. It's easy to raise your game in Europe. It's about bread and butter. We were six clear when he took over and we lost the league.
"For me, he's a bit of a mouse. I think the players aren't playing for him."
McCoist listened to the clip on the Breakfast Show this morning, as he pointed out that Saturday aside, Rangers have enjoyed a decent start to the season.
He said: "I think it's a little bit harsh, yeah I do.
"Firstly, I've got to say it was an extremely disappointing performance at the weekend.
"First thing you've got to say is congratulations to Celtic who were by far the better team. Jota was out of this world, Abada on the other side - brilliant.
"Rangers, some of the defending - just switching off at throw ins, free kicks, it was unacceptable. It was a terrible, terrible day at the office.
"I think the criticism, the vast majority of it, is justified. You take away that result, you have to say it's been a reasonable start to the season. Qualifying for the Champions League group stage and only dropping two points at Easter Road.
"As disappointed as we all were, and I was absolutely gutted, Celtic were just better than us. We have to learn from it.
"The concern I have, when they beat us 3-0 last season, it was similar to that performance when we didn't match their tempo, their enthusiasm, weren't switched on at set plays. That would be the biggest concern for me."
