THE former Scotland international footballer Ally McCoist has officially become an Officer of the Order of the British Empire following a ceremony at Windsor Castle.
Photographs show McCoist smiling with his medal in the English town after receiving the OBE for services to football and broadcasting.
McCoist was named in King Charles' birthday honours list earlier this year.
The 62-year-old did not wear a kilt to the investiture ceremony, telling his broadcasting colleagues earlier in the week that he would instead be opting for a "lounge suit".
During an appearance on the TNT Sports Goals Show panel, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand called out McCoist for asking for extra tickets to the ceremony.
"There's only one person I know who's ever gone to this and asked for more tickets than you're allocated - this man here," said Ferdinand.
"He's asked the Royal Family for more tickets, it's out of order. It's unbelievable."
