Ally McCoist insists Leeds United got what they deserved in battle against relegation

Former Rangers boss and talkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist says Leeds United got what they deserved at the end of a dismal Premier League campaign. The Whites were relegated to the Championship without a whimper with Tottenham Hotspur winning 4-1 at Elland Road on the final day of the season.

It was a result that summed up a torrid campaign for Leeds who had the worst defensive record in the Premier League. Three managers in four months only further highlighted the mess the club was in on the pitch and McCoist insists the Whites weren't good enough.

McCoist told talkSPORT: "My thoughts towards the end of the week, I was thinking Everton would find a way to win the game or win a game to keep them in the league and that was certainly the way it turned out. I've got to be honest, looking at it, Leicester 34 points, Leeds 31 - you actually don't deserve to be up if that's what you're getting.

"That might sit a little bit cold but that's the facts in front of us. Everton have not had a good season at all, again, last day saviour if you like in Doucoure, the goal keeps them up.

"Do you know something? It wasn't the weekend that [relegated] Leicester and Leeds - Leicester had a good result but it wasn't enough - it's their performances throughout the season.

"Generally speaking you are where you are and you get what you get. You get what you deserve in terms of league position at the end of it. Leicester City 34 points and Leeds United 31 points, you don't deserve to stay in the division with that."
