Ally McCoist won't hand out Dundee United praise lightly - and it's something that Chris Sutton has pounced on with the Rangers legend.
The Tannadice side have picked up in recent weeks under new boss Jim Goodwin with two crucial results against Hibs and Motherwell lifting them out of the relegation places. But McCoist's praise is firmly for the Irishman as he failed to deliver praise for the Tangerines themselves amid an upturn in form.
Back when the former striker was boss at Ibrox, United voted against their return to the top flight in 2012, and previously charged them twice for a rescheduled game. So when talk of Tayside form cropped up on BT's Scottish football extra show, Sutton was keen to ask McCoist if it was 'good to see Ally, right, Dundee United picking up?,' to which the Rangers legend responded with 'they have had a couple of great results Dundee United make no mistake about it.'
But the Celtic hero wanted praise on a platter, again asking 'good to see' as McCoist continued to fight through with his answer amid that repeated three-word query: "Jim Goodwin deserves praise, it's excellent to see Jim Goodwin get a break as he deserves it."
With one final 'good to see for Dundee United', McCoist finished up with: "For Dundee United fans it is fantastic news Chris, I am a little bit concerned for my old team Kilmarnock.
"I know we don't show any bias - well some of us don't on this show - but I want Killie to stay up and am a little concerned."
