Rangers fans are having to pay through the nose for a flight to Seville – and Ally McCoist is sick of it.
Fans have been clamouring to make their way over to Andalusia for the Europa League Final since overcoming RB Leipzig on Thursday night.
But many have been hit by eye-watering prices as website algorithms and the laws of supply and demand put the squeeze on supporters.
McCoist couldn't lay off the typical early morning banter but it gave way for genuine fury and empathy for his fellow fans.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I would go to the cliffs of Dover and put myself in one of those cannons at the circus and get fired across the channel to go see the Rangers in Seville.
“If there’s any circuses out there who want to sponsor me, I’m willing to do that.
“I’ll get in a cannon as long as they have a big massive net around about Calais for me to land. That would be marvellous.
“It’s a disgrace what the flight companies are doing.
“Right before the game I could get three flights from Gatwick to Faro for £140. Right after the game it was £360 for one.
“It’s so unfair. Hotels are £700 a night and all that. Mental.”
Website bettingexpert has tallied up the total cost to be in the city for the showpiece against Eintracht Frankfurt using the most popular booking sites and it backs up McCoist's claim.
For flights, accommodation and 'four inexpensive meals', a return trip arriving on the day of the Final - Wednesday 18 May - and leaving a day later, the average price is currently £2,228.59 when flying from Glasgow.
From Edinburgh it's marginally cheaper but will still set you back a bonkers £2,092.85.
The flight fares see a hike of 65.19 per cent from Glasgow and 81.31 per cent from Edinburgh on the day of the Final.
When it comes to accommodation, AirBnb prices see an increase of 169.98 per cent on May 18 and Booking.com prices spike up by 103.74 per cent.
