Allegheny County still had no confirmed measles cases among its residents as of Sept. 28, even as Pennsylvania's outbreak reached 903 cases across 39 counties. Outbreaks in Jefferson, Mercer, and Indiana counties, along with a handful of cases in Armstrong and Westmoreland counties, now sit north and east of Pittsburgh.
Schools are responding before a local case appears. Pittsburgh Public Schools will host measles vaccination clinics through November, and county health officials have been preparing school nurses for possible exposures, WESA reported.
