A man groped a baby in a pram and attacked another child during a string of Sydney sexual assaults lasting four hours, police say.

The 38-year-old allegedly assaulted seven women aged 20 to 42, as well as a four-month-old baby and a two-year-old on Wednesday afternoon.

In one instance, police said the man made inappropriate remarks towards a woman, aged 33, outside a day-care centre at suburban Leichhardt before following her down several streets in his vehicle.

Soon after, the man allegedly sexually touched a baby who was in a pram at a Leichhardt park and made inappropriate comments to the baby's mother before leaving.

Other incidents allegedly took place at nearby Drummoyne and outside a Lilyfield day-care centre.

The man was arrested at Silverwater on Thursday after police received multiple complaints.

He was charged with 11 offences, including four counts of intimidation, two counts of sexually touching without consent and two counts of sexually touching a child under 10 years.

The man was held in custody by police, pending a court appearance.
