Allan McGregor lands new job a year after leaving Rangers

Little has been seen or heard about Allan McGregor since he left Rangers last summer - in the public domain anyway.

The 42-year-old has still yet to officially retire from the game despite having not had a club for around a year.

The former Rangers and Scotland No.1 was honoured with a testimonial match at Ibrox against Newcastle United last July as he bid an emotional farewell to the Rangers faithful.

He's been spotted in the stands at Ibrox since, supporting his boyhood club, and perhaps more importantly, his former teammates.

Now, McGregor had landed a new job a little under 12 months after leaving Ibrox.

He's been named as part of Premier Sports' star-studded line-up for their coverage of this weekend's Scottish Cup final 2024 between Rangers and Celtic.

The legendary keeper - who has won the competition four times as a player - will appear on the box alongside Allan Hutton, Scott Brown, Neil Lennon and Michael Stewart.

Emma Dodds will host their show, while Rory Hamilton will be a familiar voice on commentary duties. Connie McLaughlin and Jamie Lyall will be their pitch-side reporters.

Meanwhile, Rangers' plans for the unveiling of their statue of Walter Smith have been revealed.

The club has confirmed the statue of the Ibrox legend will be unveiled this weekend on Saturday, May 25.

Fans have been encouraged to attend the event at 12pm outside the stadium prior to the Scottish Cup final 2024 against Celtic at Hampden.

The tribute to club icon Smith will be located on Edmiston Drive at the Copland Road end of Ibrox.

A club statement reads: "Rangers today confirms the unveiling of the long-awaited Walter Smith Statue will take place on Saturday at 12noon.

"Located on Edmiston Drive at the Copland Road end of Ibrox, supporters are invited to gather ahead of the Scottish Cup Final as the Smith family and guests display the permanent memorial to one of the true greats of the club for the first time."
