Allahabad HC rejects Ashish Mishra’s bail plea in Lakhimpur case

LUCKNOW: A Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Ashish Mishra alias Monu, the son of Union MoS Ajay Mishra alias Teni in Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in which four persons had allegedly been mowed down by his SUV in October 2021. Three persons from the accused side were lynched in retaliation. A journalist, who was also allegedly hit by Mishra's vehicle, died later.

Rejecting his bail petition, Justice Krishna Pahal said: “Taking into consideration the complicity of the applicant Monu, there being apprehension of the witnesses being influenced, severity of punishment as drawn from the nature and gravity of the accusations, after taking due consideration of the submissions of the parties and settled legal proposition, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, I do not find it a fit case for bail," the court said.
