Allahabad HC bundle-lifter uses QR code to collect 'bakhshish', suspended

PRAYAGRAJ: A 'court jamadar', who shifted to online mode to collect his tips from lawyers, was suspended by the Allahabad high court on Thursday. A viral image purportedly showing a QR code of Paytm stuck on bundle-lifter Rajendra Kumar's waist was going viral for the past few days. In the image, some lawyers were also seen scanning the QR code and paying him the 'bakhshish' (tip).

Taking note of the viral images, Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal suspended the bundle-lifter, who was attached to the court of Justice Ajit Singh, a HCt judge. The chief justice had also received a letter from Justice Ajit Singh on November 29, 2022, in which he had sought strict action against court jamadar Rajendra Kumar.
