Irish health workers are set to rollout the smallpox vaccine in order to protect those most at risk from catching the monkeypox virus.
Just days ago the World Health Organisation declared monkeypox as a global health emergency and in a statement said the outbreak has reached more than 70 countries and is an "extraordinary" situation that now qualifies as a global emergency.
The declaration was made in an attempt to encourage investment by countries in virus treatment but it may result in a scarcity of vaccinations if many countries rush to secure batches.
