All Under One Banner cancel Edinburgh march and rally amid weather warning

ORGANISERS from All Under One Banner (AUOB) have cancelled this year's Edinburgh march and rally.

Yessers were scheduled to march in the capital today (October 7).

The event was also planned as a ride in memory of Alexander “Sandy” McCracken, a Yes Biker who died after a collision with a campervan on the A87 in August.

A post on Twitter/X updated participants, with the group writing: "Due to one month's worth of rain now falling in the space of 24 hours and train services being cancelled, we must unfortunately now cancel today's Edinburgh march and rally to ensure the safety of all participants, including Yes Bikers.

"We look forward to seeing everyone next year".

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for heavy rain for Scotland, including areas of the Highlands and central Scotland.

Glasgow, Perth and Stirling could see up to 180mm (7in) of rain.

The warning is in place from 3am on Saturday until 6am on Sunday.

On social media, Yessers said that cancelling the Edinburgh rally had been the right decision.

"Wise decision folks, I’m in Edinburgh now and the roads are not great," one user wrote.

A second wrote: "I think that was the right thing to do. It takes the pressure off of a lot of people who wouldn't want to let the #indy cause down."

"Good decision. Respect. Thank you," a third added.
