The panic for tickets to Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour is somewhat over, and some Swifties went through a whole lot just to secure a seat to the “Karma” singer’s gig.
So, unfortunately, like our resident PEDESTRIAN.TV Swiftie and Eras Tour corresponded Alexandra Koster, I have missed out on tickets. I’m sad, confused and disappointed in myself, mostly because the tickets were for my mother, and I just wanted to spoil the woman.
And like most people, I waited patiently, in the pits of hell AKA Ticketek’s waiting longue, on both Wednesday and Friday, to just be rewarded with nothing.
Although I’m trying not to be bitter about my loss in what has been dubbed the Swiftie Great War, I can’t help but think about all the other avenues I could’ve gone through just to secure my mama bear a ticket.
One way Aussie Swifties nabbed Eras Tour tickets was by camping out at their local Ticketek branch. According to Ticketek’s website, there are about 23 Ticketek agencies across the country.
BookToker Bec (@Becsammut) went viral after uploading her experience camping outside her local Ticketek office. The video has completely blown up, garnering more than one million views on TikTok.
Many folks in the comments shared that they didn’t know they could still purchase tickets this way. And I’m not gonna lie to you, neither did I.
“I DIDN’T EVEN REALISE YOU COULD STILL DO THIS! WHAT!!” one person wrote.
“I didnt realise you could still do this, it looks so much easier,” another person added.
One person also poked fun at Ticketek’s online queueing system, asking if Ticketek employees randomly selected people from the line to purchase tickets.
Bec soon updated her followers, revealing that she was able to grab the seats she was vying for. She is truly the one and only winner of the Swiftie Great War.
“Panthers were good. Extremely helpful and it ran really smoothly. Credit to them,” said journalist Nathan Taylor, per The Western Weekender.
Another way Swifties can score tickets is via competitions and giveaways.
However, on Wednesday, shit hit the fan for The Daily Aus (@thedailyaus) after it attempted to share tickets in an Instagram giveaway.
To give you the TL;DR: during the Eras Tour presale bloodbath, The Daily Aus announced that it would be giving away four Eras Tour tickets. The instructions followed most IG giveaways, like asking those who want to enter to follow the account and tag friends.
People who entered the comp soon noticed that it had deleted its giveaway post. After multiple folks asked where the post went, The Daily Aus uploaded a statement saying that it couldn’t do the giveaway and that it was “asked to take the [post] down”.
“We want to always own our mistakes, and this is a big one. We are sorry. We’ll update you here as soon as we hear back on next steps,” the publication wrote in the caption of their IG statement.
It also shared that it is considering donating the tickets to charity.
With the presale being completely sold out, the Swifites were quite unforgiving in the comments.
At this point, to be safe and make sure we get legit tickets, it’s best if we wait for Ticketek’s reselling market to open in September. Also, I might enter into some silly radio comps ‘cos I’d do anything to get Mother her tickets.
For now, I’m just gonna beat myself up over the fact that I could’ve just gone to bloody Penni Panthers. But hey, at least I know where to go when Beyoncé finally announces Renaissance Australia Tour dates.
