All the symptoms NHS want to hear about if you test positive for covid

Scotland is easing the restrictions that mostly impacted hospitality, live events and theatres as cases of covid fall across all age ranges.

However, thousands of Scots are still testing positive for the virus with 8,262 being reported as of January 20 2022.

This comes after PCR tests are no longer required if people test positive on a lateral flow test and those who have had three doses and are identified as a close contact or household contact no longer need to isolate as long as they have a negative lateral flow test result each day for seven consecutive days, and remain fever free.

Those who do need to isolate can end it after day seven if they have a negative rapid test on day six and day seven of their isolation. If not, they must isolate for the whole ten days.

Those who are not fully vaccinated (who haven't had three jabs) and close contact will have to isolate for 10 days and take a PCR test.

Research is suggesting that the hospitalisation risk of omicron is lower than what was seen with delta but the strain is still reasonably new.

The NHS has been collecting data from infected people and created a list of 16 symptoms it wants people to report.

People are asked to tick the symptoms they experienced as they log their test result and inform Test and Trace.

They are:

  • A new, continuous cough
  • A high temperature or fever (you feel hot to touch on your chest or back)
  • Loss of change to your sense of smell or taste (you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different from normal)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscle ache or joint pain
  • Sneezing
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Headache
  • Red or irritated eye
  • Loss of appetite
  • Feel sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting)
  • Diarrhoea
  • Confusion or disorientation
  • Feeling very tired
  • Rash

It also asks if you have experienced no symptoms.
