Drivers are being warned about a number of roads across the North East which will be closed this week.
Take a look at our list provided below and make sure to make allowances for these closures as you go about your travels in the coming days.
Diversion routes will be in place on various roads. Here are the road closures in the North East for this week from Monday, June 13 to Sunday, June 19:

- Newcastle: Pilgrim Street is closed due to the demolition of Commercial Union House from Blackett Street to Market Street. This is until July 3.
- Newcastle: Shakespeare Street is closed due to roadworks between Grey Street and Pilgrim Street from 9:00 on 9th January 2022 to 8:00 on 10th July.

Newcastle: Ridley Place is closed due to roadworks from B1309 John Dobson Street to Northumberland Street until July 1.

Newcastle: Gowland Avenue is closed due to roadworks from Nuns Moor Road to Sutherland Avenue until July 31.

Newcastle: Nuns Moor Road is closed due to roadworks from Cedar Road to Nuns Moor Crescent until July 31.

Choppington: Barrington Road is closed in both directions due to resurfacing work between Barrington Industrial Estate (Choppington) and Red Row Drive Roundabout (Bedlington). This is between 8amd and 5pm until September 30.

Chester-le-Street: Temporary traffic lights are in place due to roundabout construction on the A183 Chester Road at the Houghton-le-Spring turnoff. This is until September 16.

Sunderland: Temporary traffic lights are in place due to roadworks on the A183 Whitburn Road near Lowry Road (Morrison's roundabout). This is until July 31.

Sunderland: Burdon Lane is closed due to roadworks between Woodham Drive (Ryhope, Sunderland) and Burdon Turn-off (Burdon, Sunderland) due to the construction of the new Ryhope to Doxford Link road. Until 11th August 2023.

Sunderland: Farringdon Row is closed due to roadworks between Halfords and A1231 Silksworth Row. Until 5:09 on July 16.

Jarrow: Temporary traffic lights are in force due to gas main work on the A185 Victoria Road East near Northbourne Road. The works are due to end at 5pm on June 28.

Tynemouth: Temporary traffic lights are in place due to roadworks on the A191 Rake Lane near The Nursery. This is until July 29.

Tynemouth: Temporary traffic lights are in place due to long-term roadworks on the A191 Rake Lane at the North Shields turn off until July 29

South Shields: West Holborn is closed due to roadworks from Laygate Street to Weetman Street. Until 18:00 on 31st March 2023.
