All the recalled products Irish customers need to throw out this week from meat and fish to sauces

A number of products have been removed from supermarket shelves over the past week due to food safety concerns.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued several recalls for a specific number of batches of certain products.

Customers have been urged to check their fridges, freezers and cupboards for affected items and follow the issued advice on what to do next.

Retailers who stock the impacted products will have point of sale notices posted in their stores and provide shoppers with refunds for returning any affected batches.

Below are all of the current recall notices in effect for several Irish shops:

Revolution Ragu

Revolution Ragu (FSAI)

The FSAI issued an urgent recall of batches of Revolution Ragu on Monday.

The affected products may have cereals containing gluten (wheat, barley, oats and rye) which are components of the yeast extract ingredient.

These cereals are not declared on the list of ingredients of some batches of Revolution Ragu.

This may make the affected batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten - wheat, barley, oats and rye.

The affected batch of Revolution Ragu is pack size: 370g, which does not declare wheat, barley, oats and rye.

Dunnes Stores Smoky BBQ Irish Pork Ribs

Dunnes Stores Smoky BBQ Irish Pork Ribs (FSAI)

The FSAI has also recalled a batch of Dunnes Stores Smoky BBQ Irish Pork Ribs on Monday.

The incorrect back label was applied to the implicated batch of the product.

The item contains barley which is not mentioned on the label.

This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten (barley).

The batch affected by the recall is Dunnes Stores Smoky BBQ Irish Pork Ribs; pack size: 500g with the use-by date of 13.05.22 and approval number: IE 538 EC.

Frozen Jona Red Tilapia Fish

Frozen Jona Red Tilapia Fish (FSAI)

A batch of frozen Jona Red Tilapia Fish is being recalled due to the presence of the unauthorised substances malachite green and leucomalachite green.

Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed for this product in stores supplied with the implicated batch.

Malachite green is an unauthorised veterinary medicine which is not permitted in foods in the EU. This substance can be broken down to form leucomalachite green.

Malachite green was previously used in some countries to treat parasites and fungal and bacterial infections. Although in breach of the Reference Point for Action, the fish in question does not pose an acute risk to health, but there may be an increased risk if there is continued consumption over a long period.

Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batch from sale and to display a point-of-sale recall notice in stores where the affected batch was sold.

Wholesalers/distributors are requested to contact their affected customers, recall the affected batch, and provide a point-of-sale recall notice for their retailer customers.

Caterers should also not use the implicated batch.

Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batch.

The affected batch is Lot No.: VN/472/IV/169; best before date: 17/09/2023.
