A number of road closures will take place in and around the M4 this week. There will be several overnight closures between April 11 and April 17 this week both on the M4 and surrounding roads and junctions.
Last week's extensive overnight road closures and roadworks should not carry into the new week. The latest closures, most of which are to facilitate roadworks, will affect motorists travelling via Bristol or through Cardiff, Newport and Swansea.

WalesOnline creates a weekly list of closures and roadworks on the M4 and surrounding roads. Here are all the closures affecting travellers in and around the M4 this week.
- M4 westbound junction 19 to 20 : Emergency roadworks will take place from April 8 to April 30. Traffic Wales says this will only cause slight disruption to drivers and does not include a road closure.
- M4 eastbound junction 20 to 19: Planned roadworks on the eastbound side of the M4 will only cause slight disruption. The roadworks are scheduled to take place overnight between 8.30pm on April 11 and 6am on April 13. These roadworks will also affect the junction 19 slip road. The road will remain open at this time.
- M4 junction 24 to 27: Overnight road closures will affect the M4 eastbound and westbound between junction 24, Coldra to junction 27, High Cross. Closures will vary but can include both sides of the carriageway. Work will be carried out over the 20 nights between 8pm and 6am. A diversion will be in place via the A48.
- M48 junction 1 to 2 : There are planned roadworks between junction 1 and 2 of the M48. Traffic Wales says this will have a slight impact on motorists but will involve no closures. Roadworks will be in place from April 11 to April 13.
