All the Loch Ness Monster sightings this year including worker's close encounter

For centuries the Loch Ness Monster has been 'spotted' by numerous locals and tourists alike.

However sadly nobody has been able to provide evidence of the Scottish water creature having actually existed.

But when it comes to us Scots and good ol' Nessie, while many of us don't believe in such a thing, a lot us are still curious - and deep down we hope it's no myth after all.

So who has spotted Nessie this year, where have these sighting been and how many of them are there?

So far we've gathered four Loch Ness Monster sightings and here's what we know about them so far...

1. Loch Ness Monster 'spotted' hundreds of miles from home in a park lake

The mythical Scottish creature is said to have been snapped in Wimbledon Park Lake last Thursday - hundreds of miles from his home of Loch Ness home.

The first sighting of the year is said to have been taken in the South London lake back in January at the start of the year.

2. Scottish tourist finds Loch Ness Monster on sonar '400ft below surface'

A Scottish tourist has said that he believes he may have caught Nessie 400ft below the surface.

Tom Ingram from Portsmouth said that he was taking part in a tourist boat cruise across Loch Ness when the discovery of something "big" occurred.

The 36-year-old said: "I'd class myself as 'open minded' [about the existence of Nessie], of course we are aware of the myth, but to actually see something big on the sonar like that, took us both by surprise."

3. Loch Ness Monster shocks local resident of 30 years

A local resident who has been living in the area for 30 years - and who regularly works near Loch Ness - has spoken of his shock after he believes he saw Nessie.

Glen Blevins told the Daily Record he works and fishes many times on the loch but has never seen anything like it after spotting it last month.

The sighting has been recorded as the third official one of the year by the The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, after the recent sonar sighting and the first sighting of the year by a visiting documentary maker.

4. Loch Ness monster captured by couple on holiday in 'best footage for 20 years'

In the fourth sighting of the year so far, Nessie is said to have been seen by a couple whilst on their holiday.

Last month, the pair were said to have been staying in a quaint cottage over looking Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness and say they spotted something in the water.

The sighting took place around 6am and includes video footage of a reportedly large animate creature going in and out of the water.

The sighting, which was logged on the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, is also said to have best footage captured for 20 years'. of the perhaps not-so mythical creature.
