Grants to help families in Wales with costs for the new school term have been raised by £100 for one year only, to help with the cost of living crisis. The Welsh Government said “many families will be worried about the rising cost of living, especially while preparing for the new school term.”
Money is available for learners and their families in Wales struggling to afford school costs such as uniform and transport, as well as some free schemes to help children with their learning. Among changes this year is a £100 rise in school uniform and trip grants and the roll-out of free school meals to all reception age children in Wales. Some local authorities are extending free school meals to other primary school years and you can read more about that here.
