All the Boots, TK Maxx, B&Q and New Look stores closing this spring - full list

As rising prices lead to the threat of a recession and the habits of consumers continue to change, popular high street retailers have announced they are scaling back their stores. The likes of Boots, New Look, B&Q and TK Maxx have all announced closures.

Hospitality is affected too. Pub chain Wetherspoon has confirmed the sale of nine venues, with another 35 having been put on the market, while branches of Byron Burger are set to disappear as well.

In addition, 22 branches of Lloyds Bank and 18 Halifax sites are due to shut in 2023. According to the Centre for Retail Research, around 15,000 stores across UK high streets are expected to disappear this year.

The Mirror has compiled the following list of retailers affected by upcoming closures:

TK Maxx and Homesense

TK Maxx and Homesense will be closing stores over the next few weeks in another blow for the UK high street. Homesense is a subsidiary of TK Maxx which sells homeware pieces such as ornaments, storage, home decor and plants.

The Edinburgh site will close this week (Wednesday, February 15) due to the landlord pulling the lease. Meanwhile, the Homesense site in Manchester's Trafford Centre will close on Wednesday, March 1.

Swansea will also lose its Homesense store, currently located at Parc Fforestfach, which be relocated by the end of March.

The spokesperson for TK Maxx said: "Our senior managers have been in store supporting the team. We’re currently in consultation with all affected associates and our intention is that all associates will be offered roles in other local TK Maxx or Homesense stores."

The stores closing are:

  1. Homesense - Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre - Manchester
  2. Homesense - Parc Fforestfach - Swansea
  3. TK Maxx - Meadowbank shopping park - Edinburgh
