'All the beasts' - Darwin Nunez makes bold World Cup claim after Liverpool goal rush

Darwin Nunez insists his Uruguay side will go into the World Cup ready to 'fight' to win the trophy for the first time since 1950.

The Liverpool striker is set to line up alongside former Reds star Luis Suarez when Uruguay take on South Korea in Group H on Thursday.

Nunez, who secured a move to Liverpool in June from Benfica, will compete at his first World Cup, having watched on four years ago as a fan.

The Reds forward is looking forward to his World Cup when it kicks off in Qatar and he dreams of winning Uruguay their third crown.

“We come here and we know that we’re not favourites, but we're going to fight,” Nunez said. “Four years ago I watched the tournament on TV and now I’m here with all the beasts. This has only just begun.

“The first game is the first objective and South Korea are a strong team, they’re in the World Cup for a reason... everyone is strong, but so are we. We want to go far, our goal is to win the World Cup.”
