All-Pro center and former teammate Jason Kelce still talks to Carson Wentz

How many times have we heard Carson Wentz was a bad teammate in Philadelphia and Indianapolis? Most of this is rumor and innuendo that is often shot down by a former teammate of the quarterback. However, somehow, the thought still persists.

Now a Washington Commander, Wentz is off to a terrific start with his new team. And two of Washington’s best players — and team captains — Jonathan Allen and Terry McLaurin, have repeatedly praised Wentz as a person and teammate.

One of Wentz’s former teammates with the Eagles, center Jason Kelce, played with Wentz for five seasons and is a close friend of the quarterback. The All-Pro center went out of his way to praise Wentz.

“I’ve already texted him today. I’m looking forward to seeing him again,” Kelce said on an episode of “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce,” courtesy of Andrew Porter of Audacy.com.

“He was a great friend and a great teammate while he was in Philadelphia. It’s a bit of a quandary. I want Carson to play well, and I want him to do well, but I certainly don’t want him to play well on Sunday, and I want him to lose.”

The four-time All-Pro center wasn’t finished praising Wentz.

“I’m always rooting for that guy,” Kelce said “Unfortunately, things didn’t end well in Philadelphia for him. Got hurt after having an MVP like season end up going on and winning the Super Bowl. After that, it felt like he was always trying to come back from injuries, first the knee then the back. As the team started to get a little bit worse, and started to lose some players, it just kind of faded downhill. I thought he played well in Indy last year; outside of the last game it didn’t end well.”

Kelce is one of the NFL’s most respected players. Those words mean a lot coming from Kelce.
