PANAJI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has assured national team coach Igor Stimac “all necessary support” for the final two group games of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers in June.
India’s embarrassing loss against Afghanistan at home last month, and an away draw against the bottom-ranked side, had seen loud calls for Stimac’s resignation from several quarters. Even the AIFF’s technical committee led by former India captain IM Vijayan had turned against the Croatian, but the federation believes a change at this moment would be an unnecessary risk.
