Updated on January 15th: The list has been updated to include two new Rare Cooking Recipes in Hytale: Pumpkin Pie and Apple Pie. We will continue updating our list as we discover new recipies and meals.
Looking for a complete list of all Hytale cooking recipes in Early Access? Gathering ingredients, processing them, and making tasty, fresh meals to boost your stats will be one of the activities you'll do most often during your adventures across Orbis. In this guide, you'll find every currently avilable cooking recipe, with all ingredients and their effects.
Every Cooking Recipe in Hytale - A Complete List
Below you'll find a complete cooking list currently available in Hytale. However, keep in mind that the game has just been released in Early Access, and many features are either not yet present or are severely undercooked (pun intended), as the developers want to focus on other core mechanics first.
As such, there aren’t many cooking recipes available in Hytale at the moment, and the system feels fairly bare-bones. As the developers continue to implement new features, we expect the cooking system to be properly fleshed out over time. For now, here’s a complete list of all recipes available in Early Access.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This list is a work in progress and will be updated as we continue exploring the game. Since many features are not yet available in the Early Access build, additional recipes are expected to arrive through future content updates.

As you can see, almost all current meals are of Uncommon and Rare rarity. At the moment, the Chef’s Stove has only one level, but future updates are expected to introduce upgrade options. These upgrades should unlock a more complex cooking system, featuring higher-rarity recipes that make use of additional ingredients and food currently available in the game, such as all that Hytale fish you can catch.
Hytale Recipe not Yet Discovered - Can You Unlock Them?
Hytale currently includes four locked cooking recipes labeled “Recipe Not Yet Discovered.” These recipes can be unlocked in several ways. Firstly, you can purchase them from an NPC called Rootling Merchant, whom you can find inside the Forgotten Temple. This merchant will sell Rare recipies, such as Pumpkin Pie and Apple Pie, for x2 Greater Essence of Life, which you can create in the Farmer's Workbench. These will cost you x100 Essence of Life each.
Another way to discover new recipes is by finding them as random loot in chests or by experimenting with different food and ingredient combinations over a campfire. That said, there’s currently a very limited number of cooking recipes in the game, so don’t expect a full cookbook just yet. More recipes will be added in future updates.
Hytale Cooking Recipes FAQ
You unlock them by experimenting with a trial-and-error method in your fireplace. In addition, you can also purchase them from NPC vendors or find them as loot in chests.
Currently, there are only Uncommon and Rare recipes, with better ones to be added in future updates.
Most basic recipes serve the same purpose, so there isn’t a single “best” option. That said, it’s often better to cook food over a Campfire rather than use the Chef’s Stove. Also, due to them having better passives, Pumpkin Pie and Apple Pie are a bit stronger compared to uncommon meals.
It's either because they are not yet added to the game or because you haven't found them yet.
New recipes can be purchased from the Rootling Merchant NPC vendor inside the Forgotten Temple. She sells random Rare recipes for 2x Greater Essence of Life and restocks every third in-game day.
The Chef’s Stove currently has only one level. New levels will likely be added in future content updates as the game continues to expand through early access.
Because the game has just been released in early access, it is far from being finished. The developers will add new recipies through updates.
