As with any live-service game, Marathon features multiple currencies that you can earn and spend. There are only three (two if you don’t care about purchasing cosmetics) main currencies in the game that you should worry about: Credits, Silk, and Lux.
Here’s a breakdown of every currency in Marathon, how to get it, and what it’s for.

Every currency in Marathon and what it’s for
Credits

Credits are the general currency in Marathon. You earn it by completing contracts and selling loot, to then spend on new gear for future runs. You also need an ample amount of Credits to purchase faction upgrades, which unlock more gear for you to buy.
There’s a limit to how many Credits you may have. At base, it’s 30,000, but you can increase it with faction upgrades like Credit Limit from CyberAcme. This limit only applies to your wallet and doesn’t include the value of your loadout or your vault.
Silk

Silk is the currency used to unlock items in the rewards pass. You earn Silk with every run, up to the maximum of 140. Once at cap, you must spend some to continue earning it, so always check if there’s anything to grab in any of the available rewards passes.
One reward is usually between 20 and 30 Silk, and includes the free reward as well as the premium one if you purchased the upgrade. Luckily, rewards passes and Silk don’t expire in Marathon – if you ever buy a rewards pass and then take a break from the game, it’ll await you whenever you come back.
Lux

Lastly, Lux is the premium currency you can buy for real money. Lux is mainly for buying cosmetic bundles from the shop, which are around 1,500 Lux each, and premium tiers of rewards passes, which are 1,000 Lux each.
Here are the Lux bundles and their prices in Marathon:
- 500 Lux: $4.99
- 1,000 (+100) Lux: $9.99
- 2,000 (+250) Lux: $19.99
- 3,500 (+450) Lux: $34.99
- 5,000 (+750) Lux: $49.99
- 10,000 (+2,000) Lux: $99.99
The prices may vary depending on the region, so make sure to double-check them in whichever storefront you’re using to play Marathon.
