Battlefield 6 has an extensive progression system, allowing you to unlock new weapons, gadgets, and cosmetics. While some of them become available by simply increasing your Rank, most are locked behind dedicated challenges.

Assignments are the main way of unlocking new weapons, gadgets, and perks past Rank 20. If you want a new rifle or to unlock a new training path for your favorite class, there’s likely a challenge for that. These challenges have specific requirements, like using a specific weapon, so always check what you need to do before loading into the match.
