A newly discovered virus in China can be another health concern as experts say the tick borne virus can cause neurological disease.
It is commonly referred to as the Wetland virus, after being discovered in a 61 year old man in 2019 after visiting a park in a large wetland in Mongolia. "In June 2019, a patient presented with persistent fever and multiple organ dysfunction after a tick bite at a wetland park in Inner Mongolia. Next-generation sequencing in this patient revealed an infection with a previously unknown orthonairovirus, which we designated Wetland virus (WELV)," the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) has said in a report.
