Alister Jack is a disgrace and it is shameful that he avoided the vote on Boris Johnson, never mind saying the sanction was “excessive”.
He should have been brave enough to stand up and go against his former boss. But he was unable to.
Jack must be the only man in Scotland who thinks Johnson did nothing wrong.
The former PM lied to the House of Commons then tried to undermine the committee investigating him.
It was only fair for MPs to agree that he should have been suspended for 90 days and should not get a parliamentary pass when he leaves office.
He is simply facing the consequences of his actions.
Jack’s decision to avoid the vote should be the last thing he does as Scotland Secretary.
The people of Scotland need someone in the UK Government who is honest and will do the right thing.
His loyalty to Johnson has clearly blinded him from the former PM’s true nature.
Johnson is vain, a bully and a liar.
While the rest of us were unable to see our family and friends for months on end, and many missed their loved ones’ final moments, he was busy partying away in Downing Street.
He then had the cheek to lie about it and intimidate members of the Privileges Committee for doing their jobs.
Everyone in this country knows that Johnson is untrustworthy.
If Jack cannot see that, he is not fit for government.
At least he is standing down at the general election but we must make sure that we vote out this awful Tory government, too.
