Alistair Johnston was toast of the room as he paraded the latest Celtic addition to the trophy room - but a Rangers reference left him in an awkward spot.
The right-back was one of Ange Postecoglou's January signings and he turned in a stellar display in the 2-1 Viaplay Cup final win over the Light Blues. Kyogo's double cancelled out a reply from Alfredo Morelos and allowed Johnston and teammates to pick up a winners medal.
Speaking with supporters after the game, he was told that it was his first as Celtic player and how it felt. He replied with a query of 'first trophy ever?' to which 'now you know how Michael Beale feels' was the interviewers sharp reply. The Rangers boss did win the Premiership as assistant boss to Steven Gerrard but Sunday's defeat makes it two League Cup final losses. Regardless, it left Johnston needing to think fast on an answer amid laughter around the room.
He responded: "Nah, it is one that I won't forget any time soon. But hopefully it is just the first of many, that is the plan."
