Alisson Becker has already made his thoughts clear on Liverpool £49m transfer target Luis Diaz

Liverpool have already been provided an indication of what to expect from Luis Diaz, having twice faced the Colombian this season in the Champions League.

Diaz completed 90 minutes of action at both Anfield and the Estadio do Dragao as Jurgen Klopp's side earned two routine victories against their Portuguese opponents on their way to top spot in Group B.

As well as facing off against the 25-year-old at club level, one member of the Reds' squad has gained a closer look at the forward on the international stage.

Indeed, Alisson Becker came up against the Porto winger during World Cup qualifiers against Colombia at the end of 2021 and singled him out for praise.

"Luis Diaz is an excellent player, he does a lot of work for the defence, he did it in the goals of Copa America," said the Reds' shot-stopper.

"In Porto, he comes with good performances, and here our task is to see Colombia as a whole and to worry about how we should destroy it."

Brazil were held to a 0-0 draw with Los Cafeteros back in October but earned a 1-0 victory when the two countries met again the following month.

Diaz was on target against the Selecao in last summer's Copa America and shared the tournament's Golden Boot award with Lionel Messi after each netting four times.

Argentina went on to be eventual winners, defeating Brazil 1-0 in the final. Colombia, meanwhile, were inspired to a third place play-off triumph over Peru courtesy of a Diaz double.
