Alison Hammond is set to be announced as the new Great British Bake Off presenter after Matt Lucas resigned last year.
The iconic Channel 4 series is set to return later this year, where Alison will join comedian Noel Fielding to welcome the 12 new bakers to the tent. Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will be returning as judges as TV bosses are set to announce Alison's new role within days.
This Morning favourite Alison will become the first non-white host or judge in the show’s 14-year history. One source told The Mirror: “Alison is a great choice. She will bring warmth and humour to the tent in spades. We’re laughing just thinking about it.”
This comes after the Big Brother star appeared on the celebrity version of the show last year for Stand Up 2 Cancer. The 48-year-old went up against James Blunt, Alex Jones, and Joe Sugg, she declared: “I do think that good food and good baking comes from the heart - and I’ve got a lot of heart.”
Alison was a natural in the tent and judges Paul and Dame Prue: “I love chocolate brownies. Any time I go out and about, try a brownie, it never compares to my brownies. I know that sounds really big headed.”
Prue admitted: “I don’t think we’ve ever met anybody with this much confidence.” And after trying them she declared: “They taste divine.”
