Lewis Capaldi appeared on This Morning today with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary to talk about his upcoming Netflix documentary 'How I'm Feeling Now' - and of course he left the presenting duo in fits of laughter.
The ITV hosts were delighted to sit down with the Scots singer as Alison admitted she's a big fan of his and, just as the interview was wrapping up, the two ended up falling on the sofa together in stitches.
After chatting about his documentary, Lewis said: "Thanks so much for having me, I've had such fun!
Alison laughed and replied: "I'll give you fun!" and made a beeline for the singer to hug him and the pair fell back, crying with laughter together.
Fans flocked to Twitter to talk about the hilarious moment.
One wrote: "@LewisCapaldi that was the best interview of the entire year! on all platforms.. It was incredibly funny because it was so real! and with Alison at the end giving Lewis #lotsoffun it was great! The best EVER!"
While one penned: "Awwww!!! Alison and Lewis Capaldi hugging looks super adorable #ThisMorning."
One said: "Alison jumped on Lewis Capaldi was it fun #ThisMorning @LewisCapaldi @AlisonHammond."
Another wrote: "alison hammond throwing herself at lewis capaldi is not something i thought i'd see today."
While one added: "Can Lewis Capaldi be on This Morning way more often."
But there was a more serious side to proceedings as Lewis was there to talk about his new "tell all" documentary, which is out on April 5, and he opened up about his recent vertigo diagnosis.
Lewis said: "I've got vertigo. I don't usually have it it's because I had bronchitis and I'm now just telling you my elements! I now have vertigo but we're out, we're on the other end of out now."
Alison then asked him how he would promote his album to his fans and he joked: "Don't waste your time, it's a compete and utter joke that I've been allowed to do another one, if anything, I've got worse, so don't bother with it, go buy Ed Sheeran's latest offering."
Dermot then asked: "Do you enjoy it?"
Lewis again, witty as always, said: "No I hate this, it just pays the bills Dermot! It pays well!
He then added: "I do enjoy it, it's very fun, it's better than having a real job - as I'm sure we can all agree!"
Alison laughed and said: "It's true! We are blessed!"
Lewis replied: "I love it, I love doing it, I'm not very good at anything else except love making and hopefully I can make a career out of that."
Alison and Dermot were in stitches at him but then they turned the chat to the documentary.
Lewis said: "It's actually quite a depressing documentary if I am being honest with you, when I watched the first draft, I have to be honest with you, I was surprised I was like 'do I die at the end of this?' cause it is quite sad but it is good now cause we filmed some extra bits, my mental health - I didn't realise how much my anxiety and other stuff that I struggle with really coloured my life.
"I never realised until I watched it how much I needed to address like really going to therapy and getting on top of my mental health."
He added: "I'm really pleased with it, and Netflix gave us money for it!
Speaking at the Netflix premiere of the documentary in Glasgow last night, Lewis said he found the filming experience 'embarrassing' and revealed that film had originally been pitched in 2019.
He admitted that the finished product four years on is a lot different to what he expected when he first signed up.
Lewis said: ”I was approached about doing it in 2019. If I can take you back there for a moment guys, things were going well. I hadn’t really been twitching, or I hadn’t noticed a twitch that was affecting my life.
“My anxiety was under control. Someone You Loved had been big. The album had done really well. I was like ‘this documentary is gonna be the f****** coolest’."
He continued: "I had all these shows, these big massive shows booked for 2020. I was like ‘I'm gonna look like the business in this’. Then Covid and all the rest of it happened. It became an intimate thing.”
Discussing the reality of having camera crews filming his every move for years, Lewis joked it was “f******* awful”. And he has admitted feeling “nervous” about the documentary being released to the world.
He added: “Being famous, for me, this whole experience is really embarrassing. I feel like I’ve just been embarrassed a lot. When you’re walking around and you’ve got a camera crew, you feel like a massive c***.
“I know it sounds mental because you’re all here to see a film about my life but I don’t like drawing attention to myself.
“You’re mic-ed up the whole time. You’re worried about everything you say. It’s intense and a weird experience.”
Lewis Capaldi's Netflix documentary How I'm Feeling Now will be available to stream on Netflix on April 5, 2023.
