Alison Hammond makes announcement regarding Holly Willoughby's return to the show

ITV presenter Alison Hammond made a quick announcement about Holly Willoughby during the final moments of This Morning. The ITV daytime show was hosted by Hammond and co-host Dermot O'Leary this morning (Friday, April 21), but many viewers were left wondering when Holly would return.

The presenter was forced to take an additional week off from the show after falling ill. The mum of three confirmed on Instagram that she had shingles and would be off recovering at home. After her announcement, This Morning confirmed that Rochelle Humes would be stepping in to her presenting shoes and the former singer made her hosting return to the show for the first time in months alongside Phillip.

After a period of silence on social media, Holly returned and shared with followers on Friday, April 21, how she had been sent the 'sweetest delivery' from her fellow This Morning star Dermot O'Leary. A photo posted to her Instagram Story showed an unwrapped deli sandwich which had been sent over via a restaurant reports Manchester Evening News.

She wrote over the image: "Thank you @dermotoleary for the sweetest delivery of chicken soup and salt beef." She added: "Just what I needed.

"Feeling so much better. Thank you for all your well wishes" and also included a red heart emoji. However, as Alison and Dermot wrapped today's show, Alison was quick to say as chaos ensued with Gino D'Acapo in the kitchen: "On Monday's show Holly is coming back so don't worry.

"She's going to be here on Monday."
