Alice Evans charges dropped after pleading not guilty to violating restraining order

Charges have been dropped after Alice Evans pleaded not guilty for violating a restraining order against her estranged husband.

Ioan Gruffudd took out the restraining order to prevent her from posting disparaging comments about him or his 29 year-old girlfriend Bianca Wallace on social media.

At a hearing Thursday at LA's Airport Courthouse, Commissioner James Cooper dismissed the charges after prosecutors told the court they were "unable to proceed".

On Friday there was a follow-up hearing, which Evans did not appear in person, but her attorney, public defender, Daniel Stefanic, filed a motion asking for a ruling that would declare her 'factually innocent' of the charges.

At first, Commissioner Cooper denied the motion, but withdrew his denial of the motion, deferring his ruling until another hearing he scheduled for April 25.

It was in March last year when Gruffudd filed for divorce after Evans claimed on social media that her husband of 14 years was walking out on her and their two daughters.

Gruffudd filed for joint custody of his two daughters last July after Evans filed for sole custody amid their divorce.

While requesting visitation rights, he claimed in the filing that Evans had been trying to cut communication between him and his children.

He also wanted his daughters to go to in-person therapy and reunification therapy via zoom.

In court filings, Gruffudd accused Evans of verbally abusing him during their marriage, and "undermining him" in front of the girls throughout their relationship.

He claimed that Evans "has inflicted serious emotional harm on Ella and Elsie by her statements and by interfering in my relationship with them".

While the divorce has been underway, Evans risked violating her restraining order by taking to social media to post about their separation.

She wrote on Instagram : "I'm working out to try to calm myself down because I am being GASLIT. Freaking GASLIT.

"With my kids, with the places I usually go to. Everything. I can't leave the house without being photographed and told that I am fat and horrible whereas "B" is so slim….

She signed off: "… I cannot deal for much longer."
