Despite the Israeli military warning people not to drive towards the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, Ali Ghosn embarked on a perilous journey on Sunday to deliver much-needed supplies to the residents of the ghost town.
Ghosn described the deserted roads from Sidon to Tyre, with only occasional ambulance sightings. He emphasized the need to maintain speed due to the ongoing bombardment and sonic booms in the area.
He highlighted the dire situation in Tyre, where markets, cafes, shops, clinics, and pharmacies are all closed. The scarcity of basic necessities like bread has forced residents to travel to Sidon for essentials.
Driven by a sense of duty, Ghosn has taken it upon himself to assist Tyre residents by delivering supplies and running urgent errands. Some residents have entrusted him with keys to retrieve belongings from their abandoned homes.
The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has displaced over 1 million people in recent weeks, with many seeking refuge in makeshift shelters in schools or on the streets.
Ghosn, who relocated his family away from the border area during heightened hostilities last year, empathizes with those currently facing displacement. Despite needing money for fuel, he refuses payment for humanitarian tasks like delivering medicine and bread.
His selfless actions serve as a beacon of hope in a region plagued by conflict and displacement, demonstrating the power of compassion and solidarity in times of crisis.
