The Apex Legends Global Series Year 6 Split 1 at the Esports World Cup in Paris has begun. Here’s everything you need to know about how these matches played out, who came out on top, and which teams are playing in the Match Point Finals on Saturday.
Matches begin on Tuesday, July 7 with three days of Group Stage matches, followed by one day of Survivor’s Bracket on Friday, and finished off with the Match Point Finals on Saturday, July 11.

July 11 – Match Point Finals
After ten long matches done and dusted, the finals of this weekend’s ALGS tournament is finally over. With over half of the lobby on match point, a finale was inevitable and Unlimit were finally able to bring it home on World’s Edge. In a final circle against Wolves and Zeta Division just outside of Monument, Unlimit were able to control the area and become champions.
Match 7 almost ended the entire day, as Sentinels (on Match Point) narrowly lost to Unlimit despite having a full squad and a strong hold on the majority of the final ring’s real estate. The incredibly close victory lead them to later taking the entire weekend’s championship.

July 10 – Survival Stage
The last chance for six squads to make a comeback for Saturday’s Finals is here. The incredibly tight race through the first five matches of the ten game gauntlet has, so far, seen Wolves Esports, Team RRQ, Zipline Mafia, ENTER FORCE.36, ForFun Esports, and GeeKay Esports in the lead with only a single point separating most of them.
Wolves Esports launched themselves to the front of the pack in Match 5 with a kill heavy game, racking up 26 points in one go with 14 kills evenly split amongst the players. The fact that teams are able to go from the bottom to the top of the leaderboard with a single game is a testament to how intense the Survival Stage is for this tournament.
Throughout the last half of the game block, Team RRQ, NIP, ENTER FORCE.36, Wolves Esports, ForFun Esports, and GeeKey Esports all managed to enter the top six of the match, earning their ticket to Saturday’s finals.

July 9 – Group B vs C
The final day of Group Stage is when any teams lagging behind their fellow players have one last set of opportunities to earn points. For Groups B and C, that means teams like VK GAMING, Shopify Rebellion, and Sentinels can claw their way up to try and avoid ending up in tomorrow’s Survivor’s Bracket, while teams like Dory and Kirisame Havoc can attempt to narrowly avoid being cut entirely from the tournament.
In the first half of the matches, Elite Esports and Team Nemesis swept up the points, especially with Team Nemesis’s impressive number of KP (kill points) through Match 2 and 3. The final three matches saw the slow return of Team Falcons, who have stayed strangely under the radar since their first win on the very first day of Group Stage. Gathering points now have kept them in the upper half of the Top 14 in the overall standings, meaning they’ll likely avoid slipping into the Survivor’s Bracket even after Group A vs D later today.

July 9 – Group A vs D
The second block of the day finalizes which teams are heading home, which are safe until finals, and which will have to duke it out for a entire day through the Survivor’s Stage. Among the teams that are completely safe are Gaimin Gladiators, S8UL, and Team Liquid, while teams like AURORA, Dogred, and WGR NEO are all likely going to be sent home. In terms of consistency, ZETA DIVISION has given themselves a leg up into the Top 14 by placing in second and third through all three matches on Olympus, an impressive showing that they can hopefully continue with on Storm Point.
The final three matches of Group Stage showcased some extremely solid plays from Team Liquid, but it was Team Vision who took the hearts of the crowd after Carter – playing as Alter – managed to save his squad with a solo run through the zone while being chased by multiple squads. Carter’s use of Alter’s portals and some desperate gravity cannons brought his team back for a comeback to take victory in Match 5, rocketing them up the overall ranking and securing their place in the Top 14.

July 8 – Group B vs D
In the second day of ALGS, the stakes got a bit higher as the chances to secure a juicy win got slimmer. The one team that took full advantage of this time was S8UL, who took two back to back victories in Match 4 and 5.
Just like yesterday, despite “only” winning one match, the team that led the leaderboard by the end of the B vs D matches was Team Liquid, who took Match 3 as their sole victory but kept relatively steady placement consistency throughout the rest of the matches. For comparison, two teams that won matches are still sitting in the middle of the pack – Team Falcons and ShopifyRebellion – because every other match ended with them lower than the top ten.

July 8 – Group A vs C
Group C’s Elite Esports were the clear winners of this section of Group Stage, with two wins and a over ten point lead ahead of the second place team. The team was able to heavily utilize Alter as a ban for her character never came, giving Elite Esports plenty of opportunities to push through walls and run down weaker squads.
While they never secured a match victory, one team to keep an eye on in the next few days is S8UL, the APAC South team full of Aussies who kept themselves in the upper half of the scoreboard throughout every match. This consistent performance has kept them high in the overall ALGS bracket, a huge asset as teams get closer and closer to being cut as the Group Stage matches wind down.

July 7 – Group A vs Group B
Across the first six matches of this split, five different Apex Legends teams managed to snatch victory and give themselves an early lead through this grueling week of gaming. Zeta Division dominated the final two matches of the set, winning both Game 5 and Game 6, but only reached sixth in the rankings when the dust settled.
The real winners of the entire set were Gaimin Gladiators, the team that both won Game 3 and managed to stay in the top ten for the entirety of the set. ALGS has always rewarded consistency for gathering points, something that will certainly pay off for Gaimin Gladiators a few days down the road as teams are cut and enter the Survivor Bracket.

July 7 – Group C vs Group D
In the second half of the group stage matches, Elite Esports managed to win two games and gain a slim lead against their groups. While those two matches – the final of which had Elite Esports fight their way out of a gate in Jurassic Park with the Ring against their back and a spider web of Wattson fences ahead of them – were exciting, the most hyped moment of the block came in Game 4.
In the rare moments when a rat play actually leads to victory, Team Liquid was able to sneak their way to victory with an insane Valkyrie, played by Panic, fighting solo against two full 3-man teams until he was able to jump in as a solo third party and mop up the second place team.

The easiest, and best, way to watch ALGS Split 1 at the Esports World Cup in Paris is on the PlayApex channels on Twitch or YouTube. The official stream is not only the fastest, but includes behind-the-scenes interviews with players and sometimes scripted skits in between the matches.
Alternatively, the B-Stream hosted by NiceWigg and Greek is a fan favorite way to enjoy the games, as both streamers are not only extremely knowledgeable (having been esports players themselves in the past) but have high energy throughout the gauntlet of matches.
For Group Stage days, matches begin at 1pm CEST, while both Survivor’s Bracket and Match Point Finals begin at 4pm CEST.
