Alfredo Morelos steps up Rangers injury recovery as striker ditches downtime for the gym

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos is working hard on his recovery, despite many of his team mates taking time off.

The Colombian posted clips of himself in the Rangers gym as he continues his recovery journey ahead of next season.

The striker continues to keep fans in the loop, taking to Instagram to share the update.

Morelos was forced to miss out on some huge games this season after being ruled out for the remainder of the campaign back in April.

The star sat out three Old Firm clashes as well missing out on the quarters, semi and grand finale during Rangers' Europa League run.

He injured his thigh during international duty with Colombia, leading to surgery that ended his season early.

But the 25-year-old seems as keen as ever to make his return and is refusing to take some time off during this closed season.

The footage shows the player completing training exercises in a bid to improve his fitness ahead of pre-season.

The Colombian was in great form under Gio van Bronckhorst before injury struck, netting 19 goals and providing eight assists in all competitions.

And it seems he's determined to come back stronger as he steps up his recovery bid.

A club statement at the time of his injury read: "Following an injury sustained whilst on international duty with Colombia, Alfredo Morelos has undergone surgery to his thigh.

"Our medical team are pleased with the outcome of the operation and his rehabilitation programme is underway.

"He will return to training with the first team squad during pre season. We wish him well during his rehabilitation."

And by the looks of things, the player's recovery journey is on track.

It means Rangers fan could have El Buffalo back in a Blue Jersey ahead of next campaign.
