Alfredo Morelos' Rangers vs Celtic sub fury branded 'disrespectful' and 'doesn't look good'

Charlie Adam has branded Alfredo Morelos' furious Hampden sub reaction as 'disrespectful'.

The Rangers striker was clearly frustrated when replaced by Michael Beale in the League Cup Final defeat to Celtic for Antonio Colak as the Light Blues chased a leveller. The Colombian had just scored to bring his side back into the game and vented his anger by booting the water bottles on the Hampden track as he made his way back to the dugout.

Ibrox hero Barry Ferguson admitted in the wake of the game that he didn't mind his reaction but the same can't be said for Adam - who reckons it doesn't look good with the eyes of the world on Hampden. He says it is disrespectful to his team-mates and it is not good for the team or culture within the group.

He told Ice 36: "[Alfredo] Morelos was obviously frustrated because he’d just scored a goal and five minutes later he gets taken off. I also think it’s disrespectful to his team-mates. He’s on a worldwide stage with a lot of people watch and it doesn’t look good. It’s not good for the team or the culture within the group.

"Overall I don’t like it. It’s a tough one but I think it’s disrespectful to Michael Beale and Antonio Colak.

"Alfredo has been a fantastic player for Rangers with the goals he’s scored and I understand his frustration."

Kyogo Furuhashi was the Hampden hero for Celtic as his double secured a 2-1 win as Ange Postecoglou's side retained their grip on the trophy.

It also means the Hoops are still on course to land a domestic Treble this season with Rangers nine adrift in the title race and a quarter-final Scottish Cup tie with Hearts on the horizon.

Speaking on Go Radio about Morelos' moment at the national stadium, Ferguson explained: "I thought he had a pretty quiet game to be honest with you, he scored his goal and you could see he wasn't too happy when getting taken off. A lot of people might make a lot of that.

"I would rather see a player upset when he is getting taken off. Rather than just sauntering up to the bench and putting your coat on and not bothering. In terms of Rangers as a whole, they just didn't do enough to win the Cup."
