Alexis Sanchez set to link up with two Arsenal flops as Inter Milan transfer exit edges near

Ligue 1 outfit Marseille have registered an interest in signing former Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean international's career has taken another miserable turn.

The ex-Emirates fan favourite has been struggling ever since he swapped the red of Arsenal for the red of Manchester United in the January of 2018. After failing spectacularly at Old Trafford, Sanchez upped sticks to Inter Milan but now finds himself surplus to requirements at the San Siro as well.

At 33 years of age, it is widely believed that Sanchez's best days are behind him but the Copa America winner still harbours hopes of playing Champions League football next season. This is where Marseille enter the fold - able to offer him minutes in Europe's elite club competition, Sanchez is thought to be interested in the move.

The French side have already been in communication with Sanchez and talks are rumored to be at an advanced stage, but a deal is only likely to be possible if the former Premier League star tears up his Inter Milan contract reports La Provence.

Sanchez actually enjoyed a decent campaign last time around, contributing 14 goals across all competitions but is not expected to be part of Simone Inzaghi's plans moving forward. Even last season the 33-year-old was forced to make an impact off the bench for the majority of his minutes.

Sanchez played significantly less football last term than he did the campaign prior and surely sees that his time in Serie A is nearing its end. A move to Marseille also presents Sanchez with the chance to link up with two players who also boast experience at the Emirates.

Matteo Guendouzi never actually played with Sanchez at Arsenal, but the Frenchman undeniably boasts a similar 'win at all costs' mindset and the pair are likely to find some common ground in the form of their incredible passion.

Much-maligned Gunners left-back Nuno Tavares has only just seen his loan move to the south of France confirmed as he looks to recover from what was a difficult debut season in the Premier League.

Marseille and Arsenal have struck up quite the working relationship in recent years, with William Saliba enjoying a hugely successful loan spell at the Stade Velodrome last term before returning to the Gunners. Guendouzi initially left on loan before making his move permanent earlier this summer.

Sanchez would be the latest in a long list of players to have donned both the Arsenal and Marseille shirt if he does managed to secure an end to his Inter Milan misery.
