Alexis Mac Allister sends Arsenal and Chelsea clear transfer message amid January links

Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Alexis Mac Allister has responded to recent speculation surrounding a potential move in the coming weeks. The Brighton midfielder has had an impressive season so far, leading to links over a transfer, with the January transfer window now open.

The 24-year-old has seen his stock rise for the Seagulls this season with his displays in the Premier League, playing as both a deeper and more advanced option in the side. That was only amplified further during the winter as he became an unlikely hero for Argentina in their World Cup triumph.

His victory was paraded at Brighton's training ground on Monday to welcome him back to the club, with manager Roberto De Zerbi claiming he hopes for the star to stay in the future: "I spoke with him an hour ago about playing better. If he wants to stay, we're happy. It's better for him as well as for us.

"In this moment, changing team could be a problem for him. We are happy for him. Now for us he's a very important player. It's better to play with him than to play without him."

Those transfer links have been with the likes of Chelsea, who could look to bring in one of Graham Potter's former players at Stamford Bridge. With the midfield in need of a rework in the coming transfer windows for the side, it comes as little surprise that he would be an option.

Equally, the Arsenal midfield could also be in need of a refresh in the near future, having very few depth options there with players in or beyond their peak years. However, any possibility of a transfer in the near future may well have been ruled out with a clear message from Mac Allister.

He told AlbionTV: "I try not to read too much (speculation). I always say I am happy here, I don’t have any rush to leave. I feel really good, I’m really grateful with this club, my team-mates and all the people who work here. I’m just focused on the next game and this club.

“It was a good World Cup for this club and for the players who went to the World Cup. We know we’ve got a good team with really good players. This is a tough league, it will be hard, but we will try to finish as high as we can.”
