Alexandro Bernabei's loan club 'will do everything possible' to keep him - but admit that they're struggling to finance a deal with Celtic.
It's said that the Scottish Premiership champions would be looking for around £8.3m for the Argentine defender - an eye-watering for a player who wasn't fancied by manager Brendan Rodgers.
The left-back, 24, has resurrected his career on loan at Brazilian club Internacional after being frozen out at Parkhead.
Andre Mazzuco, Internacional’s executive director, insists that while their aim is to keep Bernabei in Brazil, it's going to be tough to negotiate.
“He is one of our main players," Mazzuco told The Celtic Way. "It is known that it is a hard deal to be closed due to the contract agreement.

“That was our possibility at the time. We will do everything possible to keep him.
"When we have a player on loan, we don't have the control.
"The control is with Celtic. We will make all the effort we can. It is our goal to keep him.”
Bernabei joined the Hoops on a five-year contract in the summer of 2022 for a fee reported to be £3.75 million.
With three years remaining on his deal at Parkhead, the defender could leave the club permanently in the coming transfer window if a deal can be reached.
