Alexander Isak has rejected Erik Ten Hag's claims that Newcastle United are a side that like to "delay" games or play with "annoying tactics".
The Sweden international also felt that it was Manchester United wasted more time than Newcastle during the 2-0 victory at St James' Park. By the end, Newcastle piled on the pressure against the Red Devils and created 22 goal attempts leaving barely any time to waste in front of a packed house.
When asked about Ten Hag's pre-match claims and whether they were used as motivation, Isak said: "I don't really agree with that (Ten Hag's claim). We worked with intensity and we were the team that wanted to win.

"We were the team that wanted to bring the game forward. They wasted more time than us. I don't put too much focus on that. I think we put in a great performance."
Isak also made it clear that the Carabao Cup final defeat was not on the agenda as part of Howe's pre-match speech. Although he said he and his team-mates had been determined to land some silverware.
Isak said: "No. "I would not say that, they still got the cup. We wanted that cup and didn't get it. This win was still important. They are a direct rival for us in the table. It was nice to get the three points."
Newcastle somehow went in level at half-time after bombarding the Man United goalmouth with chances. Isak said they could have been out of sight by the interval.
Isak told Chronicle Live: "Yeah that's football sometimes. We all felt that we could have gone in at half-time with a 2-0 lead or even more.
"But we said at half-time as long as we create chances eventually the ball will go on if we stay positive and keep going."
When asked if he would take victories like this over personal glory in front of goal, Isak said: "For sure. "My goal is simply to be part of a winning side.
The striker now prepares for a midweek clash away to West Ham in which Newcastle can take another step towards the Champions League. The Sweden striker said: "Hopefully, we can use this win as a boost. We won't talk to much about it.
"We will just talk one game at time. And get the results we need."
Isak left the final word on his latest condition after his recent international stint saw him subbed for Sweden. When asked if he had any concerns on fitness, he said: "I feel 100% You can always get fitter but I wouldn't say there are any issues with me."
