Alexander Isak comeback delights Newcastle supporters despite shock Saint-Maximin omission

Alexander Isak's long-awaited comeback from injury for Newcastle United's FA Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday has delighted fans. The Sweden international will make his first black-and-white appearance for almost four months in the third-round tie at Hillsborough on Saturday night.

Isak's inclusion from the start is one of eight changes Eddie Howe has named in his Magpies starting lineup. The Newcastle head coach has shuffled the pack, with the likes of Elliot Anderson, Jamal Lewis, Javier Manquillo, and Matt Ritchie all handed rare starts.

Newcastle are undefeated since August, and will be hoping to extend this run on the back of a hard-fought midweek draw at Arsenal. It was a point which keeps the Magpies third in the Premier League table, but attention now turns to both domestic cup competitions.

First up is a potential banana skin against the Owls, who currently sit second in League One following a strong start to the campaign. The relentless schedule then sees the Magpies return to St James' Park for a Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Howe has shuffled his pack, but Allan Saint-Maximin is a glaring omission from the matchday squad with many expecting the number 10 to start against Wednesday. Here is how United supporters reacted to the FA Cup team news for the televised clash.

@Nom_Dahl_Warren: "Happy with that. Great to have Isak (& Fraser) back. Delighted Anderson gets a start. HOWAY the lads!"

@MarkyPickard: "Like a new signing."

@_AdamskiG_: "Isaaaaak in attack! C'mon you Maggies!"

@Brandon86983833: "Fairly good for rotation, glad to see Isak back and Anderson starting."

@evan_kiropoulos: "Isak in from the start. Love to see it."

@Anagram_60: "So glad to see Isak back though."
