Eddie Howe has tipped Alexander Isak to bring some 'X-factor' to Newcastle United and form a potentially deadly partnership with Callum Wilson.
Newcastle are set to unveil Isak as the club's new record signing after completing a £58m move for the Real Sociedad star. Isak is currently on Tyneside, after undergoing his medical and signing a long-term deal with the Magpies, and Howe hopes to have the Sweden international registered in time so that he can make his debut against Wolves at the weekend.
It is easy to see why. This is a statement signing in so many ways for Newcastle and Man City superstar Erling Haaland and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic are the only players aged 22 and under to have scored more goals than Isak in Europe's top five leagues in the last four years. It is hardly a surprise, then, that Isak has a 'mix of qualities' that Howe 'really likes in a forward player'.
