Alexa users get error messages as Amazon smart speaker goes down across UK

Thousands of families woke up to confusion this morning, when their smart speaker went down across the UK.

Alexa, Amazon's so-called smart speaker, refused to co-operate, with users getting error messages and failed commands.

Some reported Alexa refusing to turn off their alarms, while others were not woken up as the alarm did not work.
